Kevin, just realize the simple fact. It's plain ol' political posturing, the actions of desperate heteronormative cis-gender folk. Most of this muck is by conservative politicians -- little or nothing to do with actual faith in Christ. And for those who do do it out of religious conviction, they are a small (even if vocal) minority. The people of God, overall, may not fully approve of gays and lesbians, but they are not attempting to triumph over us. And there stands even a greater majority of heterosexual followers of Jesus who do follow Christ's command to love your neighbor.
