The Old Gay Man Ponders Entry 131116

So, imagine a world where being gay was never a social stigma. What could that world possibly be?
Here are a few ponders from my mind.

1. Knowing that someone was gay could be as easy as who they took to their prom.
2. Aunt Martha could be focusing her attentions correctly on whom to set her niece Betty Sue up with.
3. Family Reunions could be open and honest. Instead of wondering when Johnny will ever find that pretty girl, family could be questioning when he's going to find that handsome boy.
4. Schoolyard ditties would be "Jeff and John sitting in tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G", or Mary and Jane, or Sue and Tom. No big deal.
5. Brothers would not have angst about their brother being around their sons.
6. Youth would be free of the angst about wondering what is wrong with me.
7. Loving partnered relationships could start sooner, and then longer lives spent together raising a family would be the norm.
8. There would be no shame for loving someone who loved you back as much.
9. Girls wouldn't be so broken hearted when the quarterback didn't kiss her because he just simply isn't into girls. Boys would not be violent against girls because she dated a cheerleader.
10. Being welcome as a family in a church as part of the church family.
11. Your public peck on the cheek, or holding hands, would not require a quick look around to make sure no one was staring you down with scorn.
12. Inter-family relationships would grow and love would be welcome, instead of a family omitting a child and their spouse and all their livelihood.

Maybe this is just wishes for utopia. This is just a rambling list. Please add your ponders on what life would be like if being gay was not the social stigma it is.
